Takao Toshikawa, a political analyst, said that although it has been enjoying good momentum, the DPJ remains an uncomfortable collection of opposition parties with little to bind it together beyond the unifying desire for power. Having temporarily papered over the cracks, Mr Ozawa has reexposed the fault-lines within the DPJ, he said.
